It's both: There must be money for nursing homes, schools, special services - and Naturkraft
Rune Nissen Christensen asks in a letter to the editor in Dagbladet, why the municipality should spend more money on Naturkraft? I can't answer on behalf of the mayor or the city council. But for my own part, as museum director, I can answer that - like you - I would very much like to see a future municipality that can take good care of the elderly in nursing homes and that can ensure as many schools and special offers for school children as possible.

Fiskeriets Hus will become part of Ringkøbing Fjord Museer from the turn of the year
At the beginning of 2025, Fiskeriets Hus will become part of Ringkøbing Fjord Museums. The course has been set for a merger since the two museums signed a cooperation agreement in January 2022. The aim is to secure the future of Fiskeriets Husand the potential of Fiskeriets Hus. In practice, much will continue as usual after the turn of the year.

The Danish Nature Agency recommends that Ringkøbing Fjord Museums close Lyngvig Fyr with immediate effect
Blåvandshuk Nature Agency has recommended that Ringkøbing Fjord Museums close public access to Lyngvig Fyr with immediate effect. The recommendation comes after a new external inspection of the building's condition - even though the final report is not yet complete.

Museum reform seen from West Jutland
Negotiations on the upcoming museum reform are starting up again these days. We fully support a new reform that is based on the reality in which museums work. However, Museum Director Mette Bjerrum Jensen also has some points about the new proposal, which does not take into account museums like us, which for many years have focused on high self-earnings through admission and quality experiences for West Jutland's many citizens and tourists.

When the blockbuster film BASTARDEN starring Mads Mikkelsen opens in Danish cinemas on October 5, two curators from Ringkøbing Fjord Museum have contributed to the historical setting - and in their research, brand new discoveries emerged from the soil of Jutland.

The Naturkraft Foundation gets a new chairman of the board!
Naturkraft will have a new chairman of the board, as Henrik Tvarnø has decided to pass the baton on to Henrik Rasmussen. The change of chairman comes after a good summer season and provides an opportunity to strengthen the local anchoring and connection to Ringkøbing Fjord Museums.

Bork Vikingehavn Breaks his own record - again!
By the end of August 2023 - and long before the season ends - 75,000 visitors will have traveled back to Viking West Jutland at Bork Vikingehavn. Not only has the museum regained its pre-pandemic visitor numbers or broken the record set in 2022, but it has achieved its highest visitor numbers ever.

Recently, there have been letters to the editor in Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern questioning whether Ringkøbing Fjord Museum's development is respectful of the previous management, the prioritization of Skjern in this development, and the museum director Mette Bjerrum Jensen's skills.

Finance Act puts democratic education on the agenda
The parties behind the new Finance Act have set aside DKK 4 million for our common democratic education at a time when we can no longer take democracy for granted. The money is given to museums that focus on two significant figures from West Jutland: Kaj Munk and I.C. Christensen. Christensen, who both - in their own way - fought for democracy in Denmark.
