Skjern Vindmølle - moved again and again

Skjern Vindmølle has lived a windy existence. When new winds in the late 1800s blew the railroad towards West Jutland, the mill was moved from Albæk 7 km east of Skjern to the mill square. While Skjern grew at breakneck speed, not much wind reached the windmill. But when the dark clouds of the First World War brought with them an energy crisis, the mill was needed again. It was moved to Marupvej, where it has stood for more than 100 years.

Skjern Vindmølle

Very welcoming

Was there for the first time. But was very welcoming. Nice elderly ladies offering tea, coffee and homemade things. A small art exhibition was also just there. 👍

Received a thorough guided tour

We got a really good tour, with good explanation of all the functions of the mill. As well as the history of the building of the mill, which has been moved 2 times. We say thank you very much.
