April 17 - Bunker tour at Houvig

Please note that this bunker tour is conducted with a Danish-speaking guide.

Join one of Ringkøbing Fjord Museum's skilled guides around the Houvig Fortress north of Søndervig and experience the history of World War II first-hand.

On April 9, 1940, German troops invaded Denmark and the country was occupied. The bunkers in Houvig Fortress stand today as a historical monument to this time. German soldiers lived and patrolled here.

On the bunker tour, the guide will talk about the life of the soldiers in the bunkers and about the Atlantic Wall, of which the Houvig Fortress is a part - a defense line that was never finished.

May 5 - Liberation dinner

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Denmark, Ringkøbing Fjord Museer invites you to a liberation dinner on Monday, May 5 from 18:00-21:30 in an atmospheric, historic setting at Kaj Munks Præstegård in Vedersø.

As a guest this evening, you can look forward to experiencing how the flavors of the World War II era meet modern creativity as we celebrate both past and present food culture.

The dinner is spiced up with stories about the Second World War from the museum's historians, who will take you through the resistance, tell you about the war from the other side - and of course also about Kaj Munk.

Prior to the dinner, there will be an opportunity to experience the vicarage's new exhibition.

Tickets must be purchased online by April 28.
