'The first house', the 'clock house', Hover Church. One of many early stone churches in western Jutland, the church in Hover near Ringkøbing was built in the 12th century. The small ashlar stone church with the open church space is characterized by being a further development of the wooden churches built by the first Christians. Before the churches in western Jutland got towers, aisles, porches, rebuilds and extensions, they all looked like the church in Hover. But no longer, and today Hover Church is a rare testimony to the first architecture of Christianity in Denmark, unadulterated High Middle Ages.
The stone church in Hover is designated as part of the Danish cultural canon.
