It was in Dejbjerg Præstegårdsmose in 1881 and 1883 that the two beautifully decorated Dejbjerg wagons were found. For there were two, despite the fact that the Dejbjerg carriage - in singular - is today exhibited at the National Museum.
The Dejbjerg wagon was found in many small parts, together with parts from a similar wagon. It was decided to assemble the best preserved wagon together with parts found from the other wagon. In this way, the wagon known today as the Dejbjerg wagon was constructed. This wagon is also called Dejbjerg II and is on display at the National Museum. The museum's reconstruction, Dejbjerg I, is a reconstruction of the second wagon.
In connection with the 50th anniversary of the discovery of one of the most talked-about ancient Danish finds, a memorial stone was erected in a meadow near the bog. The connection between the stone and the find was made clear in the 1980s, when a path was laid from the memorial stone to the bog.
When Dejbjerg Præstegårdsmose became part of the Danish Antiquity in the Landscape project, the path to the memorial stone was not only improved, it was also made accessible to the disabled. In addition, information signs have been put up, and two poles with golden ribbons have been installed. The two stakes mark the two sites from 1881 and 1883. The memorial stone from 1933 has also been refreshed, as the colors in the relief have been refreshed. The ornaments seen on the memorial stone were found on the Dejbjerg wagon. Ringkøbing Fjord Museer use the beautiful Iron Age ornaments in our logo.
