January 29 at 19:00 - January 29 at 21:00
Following the recent debate, Skjern and Tarm Development Forums, in collaboration with Ringkøbing Fjord Museums, invite you to a dialog meeting with a special focus on cultural-historical activities in the Skjern-Tarm area.
Are you passionate about the cultural history of Skjern and Tarm? Are you wondering why the Goose Man's Farm was sold or why there's a hole in the roof of Rakkerhuset? Or maybe you're curious about the museum's future plans for the area? Then come to Innovest on Wednesday, January 29 from 19-21, where Erik Viborg, chairman of the Culture and Leisure Committee, and museum director Mette Bjerrum Jensen are ready to engage in a constructive dialog. Lars Foged, on behalf of Skjern and Tarm Development Forums, will be the moderator and make sure you get answers to your questions.
Lars Foged says:
"I am delighted with the great interest in our local cultural history, and I look forward to an evening where we as development forums in Skjern and Tarm can create the framework for dialog. Background information
Ringkøbing Fjord Museums stands on the shoulders of Skjern-Egvad Museum and before that, Skjern Museum. For more than 100 years, the museum has collected, preserved and communicated life along the Skjern River from ancient times to the present day. In the 1990s and 2000s, the museum prioritized acquiring characteristic buildings from the area, from which the local stories were told. Over time, this grew to 70 buildings that the museum was responsible for maintaining. The museum was required by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces to sell some, and as a result, a number of smaller buildings in the Skjern-Tarm area have been sold or given back. The unique history of the area along the River Skjern is now being told in new ways and at other locations of the museum, so that as many people as possible can learn about the history of the area. Recently, a group of local citizens have expressed criticism of the museum's work and priorities. One of the central questions of the dialog meeting will be how best to communicate and preserve local cultural history for the benefit of both current and future generations.
