The Friends' Circle invites you to a lecture by Jesper Bacher

This afternoon’s speaker is the parish priest of the Tirsted-Vejleby-Hillested-Skørringe Parish on Lolland; he serves on the board of the National Association of Parish Councils and is a media commentator for *Kristeligt Dagblad*.

“Kaj Munk’s Theology in Times of Crisis and War”

We live in uncertain times. There is crisis and war—even on the European continent. Borders are shifting, both national and political. Strongmen are rising to prominence, and the old order is weakening. A time that does not repeat itself, but to some extent echoes Kaj Munk’s own era in the 1930s and 1940s. Kaj Munk never preached or wrote in isolation from his time, but directly within it, asserting the relevance and authority of Christianity in all aspects of life and society.

What can we learn from Kaj Munk? How can we understand Kaj Munk—not just historically, but also make constructive use of his ideas in our own time? The aim of this lecture is to contribute to reflections and conversation about Kaj Munk’s theology in a new era of crisis and war, where there is a call for spiritual rearmament, and where alarm bells mingle with church bells.

The event will also include group singing, coffee and tea with bread, as well as an opportunity to see if the blue anemone is still blooming in the rectory garden.

The participation fee is 100 DKK for members of the Friends’ Circle and 150 DKK for non-members.
