Poetry route

You can hunt for Kaj Munk's works through the poetry trail that runs through the park, past the flagpole and canal and the place where the blue anemones bloom.

Kaj Munk was a priest, he was a resistance fighter, he was a son, husband and father. But he was also a poet, hunter and humorist. Many have sung Kaj Munk's "The Blue Anemone", and many know "The Word". But on the poetry route in the park at Kaj Munks Præstegård everyone now has the opportunity to go hunting in several of Kaj Munk's works, in the garden where he found inspiration.

Poetry route where you can hear Kaj Munk's famous poems

"Botany, zoology, all that rubbish that had tired and tormented one at school, now Nature herself taught me with her stern smile. I, who had grown up among the forests of Christianssæd, not yet knowing the names of the trees, now learned them in my wind-whipped garden."

This is how it reads in Kaj Munk's memoirs "Foraaret saa sagte kommer" from 1942. For the garden, or park, as one can easily dare to call it, at the vicarage in Vedersø, together with the rest of the nature in West Jutland, not only influenced Kaj Munk's work - it also influenced him.

Go hunting in Kaj Munk's poems

The Poetry Route gives you the opportunity to learn more about Kaj Munk and, not least, how nature and West Jutland influenced the priest, who originally came from Lolland. The poetry route focuses on the whole person, and you will therefore encounter teasing, dreams and maybe even a little eroticism...

In the park you will find QR codes. When you scan them with your smartphone, you will hear the works read by actor Esben Dalgaard and commented by SDU professor Johs. Nørregaard Frandsen.

Poetry routes across the country

The Poetry Routes is a nationwide project led by SDU professor Johs. Nørregaard Frandsen and supported by Nordea-fonden. The aim of the project is to bring Danish poets to life and to get Danes out into nature. Through the poetry routes, everyone is invited to sense, read and experience a string of the greatest Danish poets in new ways.
