The Vikings Awaken

The Viking harbor is waking up, and many of the museum's volunteer Vikings have chosen to spend their Easter holiday in the Viking houses at Bork. 

The houses are being prepared for spring and the annual cleaning is underway - everywhere sweeping, dusting, washing and getting ready for spring. And maybe you can help get the Vikings out of their feathers? But beware - you might also have to help wash the tables, dust and prepare, because in Viking times everyone helps out.

For Vikings Awake Bork Vikingehavn will be visited by a real völva, who will make a blót at the sacrificial site every day at 13:00. A blót can best be compared to a gift exchange, where people give the gods a gift - or an offering - and hope the gods will give something in return, such as a good spring for the crops or health for the family.

In addition, there will of course be exciting activities you can participate in. They will vary from day to day depending on what else the Vikings are doing. Among other things, it can be:

• Bake a delicious flatbread. Read more

• Try shooting with a bow and arrow like a real Viking. Read more
• An exciting story and demonstration of the watermill's use and importance to the Vikings. Read more

The Vikings Awaken can be experienced every day from 11:00-16:00 from March 28 through April 1.
