Experience the watermill in action

Hear the splash of water and the rhythmic creaking of wood as the Viking miller turns on the watermill. Water mills were the high technology of the Viking Age, as they streamlined the hard and slow work of grinding grain by hand. As if by magic, the mill could easily and effortlessly grind grain and ensure food on the long tables of the Vikings.

The watermill reconstructed at Bork Vikingehavn is based on local finds, and the parts of the mill that the museum could not find locally were inspired by finds of other mills from the same era - all the way to Munich. The mill construction is unique - there are no other reconstructed watermills like this one north of the Danube!

The watermill and its history can be experienced at 12:00 in German and 14:00 in Danish.
