Leather wallet

In the Viking Age, there was a barter economy - for example, trading a cow for a slave. But during the Viking Age, silver coins were also used. The coins did not have a value printed on them as we know it today, but instead used the weight of the silver as a measure. This is why we have many clipped coins from the Viking Age, as they were cut into pieces to get the right amount of silver for payment. With the coins came the need to have somewhere to store them safely - and this was done in a small leather wallet that could be hung on a belt.

At Bork Vikingehavn you can make your own leather wallet to take home with you. It can be used for much more than silver coins.

An experience card gives you access to a wide range of Viking experiences.
