Art exhibition

On the occasion of the Sustainability Festival in Hvide Sande, an art exhibition by 3 local artists is on display at Fiskeriets Hus.

In my paintings, I am interested in the ocean and the effect it has on us humans. I grew up by the water and in close contact with the sea. It has a great significance for me, in my everyday life and my well-being. I try to capture everything the sea gives me and share it through my pictures. For me, the ocean is an important part of living a sustainable life. The wellbeing of the ocean and our wellbeing are incredibly closely connected, both as humanity and personally, and I hope to bring this into focus.

Fish has always been on the human menu. But fish stocks are now under serious threat from global fishing. Regulation through catch quotas ensures that no more fish are caught than can grow back. At the same time, algae are being researched and used more intensively. Not only are they a rich food source, but they are also proven to be bred to absorb and store CO2.

"As an artist, I am interested in the element of water and its unique character as a habitat for animals and plants. I am fascinated by the survival strategies that different animals (especially microorganisms and
and single-celled organisms) have developed during evolution and the benefits that humans derive from them. But also the problems that arise from human interaction with nature."

The mussel lamp is made from willow, which can remove heavy metals and increase soil carbon content. Mussels are effective at filtering seawater and therefore remove nitrogen when harvested. The mussel lamp lights up and symbolizes our ability to use the fauna and flora that already exist in nature to fight against man-made increased nitrogen emissions.

For the past 25 years I have worked with graphics, art and art communication. I work with sculpture, painting, cutting, copperplate etching and textiles. My intention is to create joy with my art, but also to give rise to wonder, thought and insight. The interaction and symbiosis between humans and nature is the main source of my inspiration, but also the world situation and interaction between humans inspire me.
