Tour to the lock in Hvide Sande
February 12 at 13:00 - February 12 at 14:30
Please note that this lock tour is held with a Danish-speaking guide.
Fiskeriets Hus and Ringkøbing Fjord Museums take you on a tour through the history of Hvide Sande - and you get access to the lock, which is normally closed! We'll also visit other exciting places that have shaped Denmark's youngest town, Hvide Sande.
With the opening of the lock, a lifeboat station was born
The lock in Hvide Sande opened in 1931, and it was quickly realized that it was no longer necessary to launch the lifeboat from the beach. Therefore, in 1933 Hvide Sande Rescue Station was opened and is still in operation today. Hear how the nature of rescue operations has changed over time as the town has developed. Today, bathers, recreational sailors and windsurfers flock to the area where the lifeboat station was previously used to help stranded merchant ships - the station's original raison d'être.
Meeting point: Fiskeriets Hus, Nørregade 2b, 6960 Hvide Sande
Price: Adults: DKK 99. Children (3-17 years) 49 kr.
