Lecture by Senior Researcher Inge Kjær Kristensen
March 18 at 7:30 p.m. – March 18 at 9:00 p.m.
‘A Cyprianus from Højmark: A Book of Medicine and Magic’
Come and hear Inge Kjær Kristensen, senior researcher at Museum Salling, talk about how illnesses were treated in the past.
Especially in rural areas, it was the wise men and women who were responsible for treating illnesses until the late 1800s. The Danish Folklore Collection contains a curious Cyprianus from Kolstrup near Sdr. Lem, written in 1836, which, with its old Gothic handwriting interspersed with red, rune-like symbols, contains a wealth of secret “arts”—but also many practical herbal remedies.
During the lecture, Inge Kjær Kristensen delves into the content of Cyprian’s work.
