When Abeline was a young daughter-in-law in the house, the ship Elisabeth Rickmers ran aground. 19 sailors stayed with the family, as Abeline's father-in-law was the beachmaster. Today, you can find both a nameplate and a mahogany table in the large living room that originated with Elisabeth Rickmers. But how were the sailors rescued ashore?
