May 12 at 1:00 PM – May 12 at 2:30 PM
Please note that this bunker tour is conducted with a German-speaking guide.
Join a guide from the Ringkøbing Fjord Museum on a tour of Houvig Fortress and experience the history of World War II firsthand. In 1940, German troops invaded Denmark and the country was occupied. The bunkers are a historical monument to this very period. This is where the German soldiers lived and patrolled. Hear about their time in the bunkers and about the Atlantic Wall, which was never completed.
Meeting place: Sortebærdalen parking lot at Houvig Beach, approx. 4 km north of Søndervig
Price: Adults: 110 DKK. Children and teens ages 3–17: 50 DKK.
It is possible to get into some of the piles, so it is a good idea to bring a flashlight. Also remember to wear practical clothing and footwear, as the piles can be wet.
Haven’t had your fill by the end of the guided tour?
Then visit Ringkøbing Museum, where the exhibition “What the Bunker Hid” tells the story of the bunker that suddenly emerged from the dunes in 2008 after a hurricane—virtually untouched. It was abandoned in 1945, and at Ringkøbing Museum , it Ringkøbing Museum reconstructed.
You can also visit the exhibition 'Flyers in the Night', which tells the story of 19 Allied planes shot down in Ringkøbing Fjord during the war.
