Lecture at the Judge's office
January 29 at 19:30 - January 29 at 21:00
'The development of Ringkøbing from the 1760s to the 1820s seen from a different perspective'
Based on three name cloths embroidered in Ringkøbing in 1767, 1795 and 1820, a different Ringkøbing story is told.
The name cloths are related to one of Ringkøbing Museum's treasures on display at the Judge's Office: a party dress that belonged to Anne Brøllund married to J.L. Broager, pharmacist in Ringkøbing 1779-1823.
The name rags are also connected to several merchants in Ringkøbing, and the lecture will therefore also discuss the development of the merchant class during the period. Not everyone fared equally well in the years following the English wars, the state bankruptcy and the loss of Norway.
The lecture is given by pharmacist Broager's great-great-great-great-great-great granddaughter Mette Havning Michael.
