Lecture at the Judge's office
February 19 at 19:30 - February 19 at 21:00
'Rindum in the Iron Age, Viking Age and Middle Ages and Ringkøbing in the Middle Ages'
The village of Rindum dates back to the early Middle Ages, but its predecessors from the Iron Age and Viking Age are known archaeologically from numerous excavations.
The market town of Ringkøbing was founded in the 13th century at the request of the king.
In Denmark, there aren't many towns from the 13th century that have been laid out, as the vast majority are self-grown towns that were later granted market town privileges.
The archaeological excavation activity in the Ringkøbing area thus tells the story of how the area's settlement changes over time, from Iron Age village to market town.
The evening's speaker is museum curator and archaeologist Lars Chr. Bentsen.
