11. First aid kit

Many of the soldiers stationed at the bunkers in West Jutland, especially the Kryle Station where Gerhard Saalfeld was a recruit, were either very young or very old men.

They were Germans called up to fight a war. Not all of them were dedicated Nazis. Many fought the war for politics and opinions other than their own. Some men even fought against an enemy with whom they had more in common than with their “friends”. This first-aid kit was stolen from the Germans during the war. It tells us that the enemies were just “ordinary” people.
