April 12 at 10:00: Easter at Bork Vikingehavn

See all experiences

Loki's eve

October 17, 2024 at 18:30 - 21:00

Do you dare to spend an evening in Hel...?

When darkness descends on Bork Vikingehavn on Thursday, October 17, you can experience the darkest side of the Viking Age. On this mysterious night, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead are blurred, and the gates to the kingdom of Hel are wide open...

When a Viking dies in battle, they end up in Asgard, where Odin rules. The war goddess Freyja and Odin himself divide the many fallen between them, half with Freyja in Folkvang and the other half with Odin in Valhalla. Every day the Vikings fight and every night they party: the ideal Viking life! But those who don't die in battle end up in the realm of the dead with Loki's daughter Hel. In the realm of the dead, it's joyless and dark. Is this sad, or is it just another side of life? Once the darkness has settled this evening, the borders will open and you can travel between the Viking realms of death.

An evening of darkness and mystery

During the evening, you can meet the Viking völva, who can tell fortunes in runes and participate in a ritual blót. In the Viking houses, you can hear stories about Viking life by the firelight. And in the darkness between the houses, you can meet Vikings and other mythical figures who move between the realms of the dead. In the Viking Hall you can warm up and have something to eat before heading back out into the darkness.

Travel to the realm of the dead

The ruler of the underworld is Hel, Loki's daughter. If you look at her from one side, she is beautiful, but don't be blinded, because if you look at her from the other side, her face is dead and rotten. Hel is also the sister of the Midgard Serpent and the Fenris Wolf, who howls in the darkness awaiting Ragnarok. Dare to spend an evening in Hel?

We go there again and again

One of the most beautiful Viking villages I know. We go there again and again every year and you feel that there is always something new. Both in the shop on site and new buildings or attractions.
