Lecture at the Judge's office
November 26 at 19:30 - November 26 at 21:00
'The cultural history of the horse'
The evening's speaker is Line Holm Thomsen, cand.mag. in history and museum educator at Ringkøbing Fjord Museums.
Once upon a time, our society - from industry to agriculture and everything in between - could not function without the power of the horse. But that's no longer the case.
The many technological advances during the 20th century made real horsepower obsolete and the once important workhorse lost its importance, livelihood and relevance in the post-World War II period. The time when horses disappeared.
The lecture tells the cultural history of the horse - about the changes that characterized the use and importance of the horse during the 20th century and how the horse population in Denmark almost disappeared over a relatively short period of time. The focus will be on how the workhorse disappeared from agriculture.
