Lecture - Monopoly, the strong women and the weak men in Monopoly
January 22, 19:30 - January 22, 21:30
Monopoly is common knowledge. The vast majority of Danes have a close relationship with the more than 40-year-old TV series, and many have watched the 24 episodes several times. Author Lise Nørgaard has sometimes been accused that the series favors women at the expense of men. In this talk, we will take a closer look at whether the story of Matador's victorious women and the flabby men holds water. At the same time, there will of course also be an opportunity to take a look at Matador and the series' portrayal of Danish history, which no professional historian can compete with.
