Follow Ringkøbing Fjord Museum's guide around the Houvig Fortress and experience the history of the Second World War first hand. In 1940, German troops invaded Denmark and the country was occupied. The bunkers are a historical monument to this time. This is where the German soldiers lived and patrolled. Hear about their time in the bunkers and about the Atlantic War that was never finished.
Meeting point: Sortebærdalens parking lot at Houvig Strand approx. 4 km north of Søndervig
Price: Adults 99 kr. Children and young people 3-17 years 49 kr.
It is possible to get into some of the piles, so it is a good idea to bring a flashlight. Also remember to wear practical clothing and footwear, as the piles can be wet.
Haven't you had enough at the end of the guided tour?
Then visit Ringkøbing Museum, where the exhibition "What the bunker hid" tells about the bunker that Gerhard Saalfeldt lived in, which in 2008 appeared suddenly after a hurricane; Virtually completely untouched. It was left behind in 1945, and on Ringkøbing Museum it is reconstructed.
You can also visit the exhibition 'Flyers in the Night', which tells the story of 19 Allied planes shot down in Ringkøbing Fjord during the war.
